Bill MacPhee, Author of “To Cry a Dry Tear” Highlighted in Author Solutions Real Authors, Real Impact Campaign
Bloomington, Ind. (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- Author Solutions, LLC, a Penguin Random House company and the world leader in supported self-publishing services, is featuring iUniverse author Bill MacPhee as part of its Real Authors, Real Impact campaign. MacPhee is the author of “To Cry a Dry Tear,” released in February 2014.
MacPhee’s life forever changed in 1987 when he found himself pacing a psychiatric ward, dealing with delusions and suffering from paranoia and depression. At the age of 24, MacPhee was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He went through a very dark period in life, drowning in his own depression, until the day came when he firmly decided to change for the better.
MacPhee took an interest in local politics and started attending council meetings at his hometown library. At the library, MacPhee said he found a book on business that sparked his inspiration to become a business owner. He knew it would be a great outlet to bring awareness for people diagnosed with schizophrenia.
In 1994, MacPhee launched Magpie, Inc. and published the first Canadian issue of SZ Magazine, his creation to bring hope and resources to people affected by schizophrenia. Each issue provides its readers with informative articles, recovery stories, caregiver tips and first-person accounts of real people who are living with and recovering from the mental illness.
“I take pride in my work as a mental-health advocate,” said MacPhee. “I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to self-publish my book to help raise awareness, educate others, strengthen my business model and most importantly, express that there is life after mental illness.”
MacPhee has gone on to live a rich and meaningful life, earning multiple achievements and awards for his empowering work. He also recently celebrated 15 years of marriage and has two children. In addition to producing SZ Magazine, MacPhee travels to destinations in North America to give inspirational talks about he pulled himself out of depression to become the successful, businessman, husband and father he is today.
His tour is called Change the Name and Stop the Stigma to educate the public on schizophrenia and talk about his book “To Cry a Dry Tear.”
