The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel is proud to present two extraordinary overnight experiences for the 2014 Pageant of the Masters season – Behind the Velvet Rope and The Art Detective. As a long-time Pageant sponsor, the resort’s offerings include excellent seats in the center loge section for the world-famous performance.
Pageant of the Masters, Laguna Beach’s world-famous celebration of art in “living pictures,” enters its ninth decade with the theme, The Art Detective. The history of art is filled with whodunits, unsolved mysteries, and tales of discoveries that changed the way we look at the world. This year’s Pageant will feature such works of art as Manet’s ‘Olympia,’ Rembrandt’s ‘The Night Watch,’ Botticelli’s ‘Primavera’ and ‘Madame X’ by John Singer Sargent. The Pageant will also revisit the world’s most costly, as yet unsolved, art heist of 1990 when thieves stole a Vermeer painting and several other priceless works from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
With the Behind the Velvet Rope experience, guests can feel the excitement and wonder of how this grand production comes together behind the curtain and peek into the mystery of how art comes to life. Because of the resort’s long standing partnership with Pageant of the Masters, it is able to provide this exclusive offer where guests can rub elbows with fine artists on a guided docent tour and then experience the thrill of being back stage just before show time. The Behind the Velvet Rope experience starts at $1,475 per couple, per night and includes:

A live narrator guides the audience through the story of each living picture accompanied by the music of a professional orchestra. The Festival of Arts is California’s premiere fine art show. Established in 1932, Festival of Arts promotes, produces and sponsors events and activities that encourage the appreciation, study and performance of the arts.
