Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Wes Montgomery Style Blues in the Key of G - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- “This is an awesome riff in the key of G,” says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates this lick as follows: start off with your 2nd finger on the 5th fret of the 5th string and then to the 5th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger. Next is a G minor triad played by baring your first finger across the first three strings at the 3rd fret and then back to the root note on the 5th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger. Next is an A minor triad played by baring your third finger across the first three strings at the 5th fret and then immediately back to the G minor triad. Jon performs all of this only using his thumb in the traditional way that Montgomery played without using a guitar pick. Jon finishes off this riff by playing two G notes an octave apart from each other on the 3rd fret of the 6th string with his thumb and the 5th fret of the 4th string with his 3rd finger. Guitar TABs are available for this cool blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
Wes Montgomery was an American guitarist from Indianapolis Indiana. Wes was known for his unusual technique of not using a guitar pick, but rather using his thumb.
