The best women leaders are opportunity experts who take action to seize the opportunities that are right in front of them.
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) May 02, 2014
On the heels of a popular series of Forbes blogs on women’s leadership, Glenn Llopis, Chairman and President of Glenn Llopis Group (GLG), a leading thought-leadership, human capital, and business strategy consultancy firm, will release his latest ebook, “Women Leaders Must Dive In, Not Just Lean In: The Six Fundamental Truths of the Dive-In Principle,” on May 15th.
Prompted by the overwhelming response from women and men across the world to his Forbes February blog “The Most Undervalued Leadership Traits of Women,” Llopis began developing the ebook, which takes a deeper dive into how women leaders need to trust themselves enough to make that conscious choice to enable their most natural skills and characteristics to build momentum for their personal brands. “The dive-in principle is not about being overly aggressive or focused on self-promotion,” explains Llopis, a Forbes contributing business leadership writer, best-selling author, and former C-Suite executive. “It’s more the opposite. Diving in is when you know that each decision you make towards being your most authentic self can potentially be that defining moment in your career that propels you forward as you reach for success and significance.”
Featuring interviews with Maritza Montiel, Deputy CEO and Vice Chairman, and Jennifer Steinmann, Deputy CEO and Chief Talent Officer at Deloitte; Michelle Patterson, Founder and President of The California Women's Conference and President and CEO of Women Network; Grace Killelea, CEO of Half the Sky Leadership Institute; and Carolyn Lawrence, President and CEO of Women of Influence, in the ebook, Llopis explores these leaders’ insights on avoiding the traps of workplace politics, complacency and fear and learning to channel their awareness, instincts and natural capabilities to most effectively see, sow, grow and share the opportunities before them. Adds Llopis, “The best women leaders are opportunity experts who take action to seize the opportunities that are right in front of them. Unfortunately, opportunities seen are not always sown because we spend too much time doubting ourselves, searching for validation and/or lack the confidence to be accountable – thus losing momentum and valuable time in the process.”
As of July 2013, there were only 18 female elected presidents and prime ministers in power around the globe. In the business world, women currently hold only 4.6 percent of Fortune 500 CEO positions and the same percentage of Fortune 1000 CEO positions. As women continue their upward trajectory in the business world, they have yet to be fully appreciated for the unique qualities and abilities they bring to the workplace.
“There is a women’s leadership movement afoot that needs to transition from underground grassroots to mainstream establishment,” adds Llopis, who will facilitate a one-day leadership branding workshop for women executives on July 10th in Irvine, California. “This isn’t about goodwill, preferences, or representation. Mobilizing women into leadership positions is mandatory for sustainable economic growth, global competitiveness, and innovation across all industries.”
