Announcement: BluesGuitar.com releases “How to Play the Riff from `Come Together´ by The Beatles - Rhythm Guitar Lesson - Part 1”
(PRWEB) May 03, 2014 -- A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
“The blues was like a precursor for rock and roll and there are so many classic rock tunes and things that have been influenced by the blues”, says MacLennan, “this is an example of one of those tunes”. This riff is in the key of D and Jon demonstrates it as follows; first finger on the 10th fret of the 6th string and 3rd finger on the 12th fret of the 5th string, strummed twice as 1/8th notes, then he keeps his first finger the 10th fret and frets the 14th fret of the 5th string with his 4th finger and strums that twice as 1/8th notes and simple alternates back and forth between the two chord shapes counted as 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &, all being played using the palm muting technique. Next Jon moves this sequence down to the 5th fret and repeats it and then ends it with a G5 power chord at the 3rd fret. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
