Cinco de Mayo is around the corner and Destin has quite a few locations to celebrate. Cantina Laredo in Grand Boulevard will be hosting their 6th annual celebration on Saturday, May 3rd. Outside of the restaurant, live entertainment will be enjoyed across Grand Park. Laredo’s is popular for their classic Casa Margaritas and will have food, drinks, and door prizes available for the event. This is free and open to the public from 5pm-11pm. At HarborWalk Village, a Pub Crawl through the village will take place on Saturday. Guests are welcome in fiesta-inspired costumes and can enjoy contests and live music. Sunday will include more music and dancing as well as the 3rd Annual Running of the Bulls and a fireworks finale over the harbor. For those visiting the area, accommodations can be made at the local Edgewater Condo Resort.
The annual ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival is scheduled for May 9th-11th and will be held in Grand Boulevard. Produced by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, the event features exhibits of over 100 artists as well as demonstrations and live entertainment. The week of the festival, local galleries will have parties for the big event Monday through Thursday for “Gallery Nights”. Friday night will include an “After Hours Beach Bash” at the Grand Park Lawn from 8pm-11pm. The featured artist this year will be Juan Francisco Adaro, a contemporary painter from Argentina that lives in Santa Rosa Beach. This is the 26th year for the festival that has come a long way from a small group in Grayton Beach in 1989 to a premier event for South Walton.
Memorial Day Weekend will be celebrated in the Village of Baytowne Wharf with live music by Stellar, Coconut Radio, and a Brass Band performance. Sunday will include children’s activities and a fireworks display over the lagoon at the end of the night. Monday at 7pm will be a Memorial Day Program presented by Sandestin Veterans. Destin vacation rentals are available in the vicinity for reservations.
