Healthcare Software Startup Discovers Secret To Streamline Hospitals Supply Chain
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 07, 2014 -- Chicago-based Hybrent, Inc. has created a new app to help hospitals improve the management and control of medical supplies used by clinical staff. The new GOO mobile ordering application provides an easy-to-use interface for all supply chain systems and inventory.
Communication between hospital supply chains and clinical staff has become complicated and inefficient. Hybrent has removed that friction, giving clinical users a predictable and transparent way of getting time-sensitive supplies needed to treat patients. “Our product creates complete transparency, accountability, predictability, and visibility within the supply chain so clinical users can spend valuable time focusing on the things that really matter: patient care,” said Hybrent CEO Ken Tighe. Follow Hybrent on Twitter and Facebook to find out more about the company's projects.
Twenty-one year veteran of the hospital supply chain, Harold Richards, witnessed the problems with hospital supply organization every single day. As an administrator, he was responsible for finding more than $50 million dollars to save in numerous hospitals. After exhausting all efforts in working with trading partners, Harold drew a line in the sand and started taking action on his own accord to solve this problem. Hybrent aims to disrupt and change the way supply chain and clinical teams communicate with one another.
From a supply chain perspective, the way a hospital operates is very complicated. In fact, there are so many moving pieces and steps that must happen in order for a patient to receive supplies necessary for treatment. “A lot of waste occurs within the system, which impacts the delivery of care and, ultimately, patient satisfaction,” said Tighe. “Nurses spend 20 percent of their day ordering, searching, and tracking down medical supplies.”
Hybrent’s GOO platform intuitively combines the workflows of both the supply chain and the clinical teams to create a frictionless process. Ingalls Hospital, a founding customer of Hybrent, immediately understood these issues deeply and invested in the program.
“Hoarding of supplies on the floors used to be so bad,” said Ken Davis, a 30-year supply chain veteran. “The lack of accountability caused major friction between supply chain and clinical users. Since GOO has been implemented, I no longer spend time worrying about requisitions coming into my department and sitting for long periods or getting lost because now everything is completely visible, accessible & mobile.”
