HealthCrowd Taps Wellness and Fitness Expert to Join Company's Advisory Board
FOSTER CITY, Calif. (PRWEB) June 13, 2014 -- HealthCrowd, an early disruptor in healthcare mobile messaging, today announced that Rajiv Kumar, M.D., an innovator in wellness and disease prevention, has been appointed to HealthCrowd’s strategic advisory board. Kumar is currently CEO of ShapeUp, a successful, rapidly growing online wellness platform that leverages the power of a social network to improve the health of large populations for companies and health plans. He joins a number of current advisory board members, who are also highly distinguished in their fields. These include Clayton Christensen DBA, professor at Harvard and best-selling author of eight books such as the New York Times best-selling, “How Will You Measure Your Life?” and Marilyn Schlein Kramer, former President and CEO of DxCG, Inc. (now Verisk Health) and recently appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy.
Kumar is known throughout the wellness industry for demonstrating a strong correlation between sustaining a healthy lifestyle and tapping into a trusted social network for support, motivation and accountability. He also authored a number of articles and research reports, emphasizing that behavioral change in groups leads to weight loss and prevention of many diseases including obesity, diabetes, hypertension and depression.
“The success that Rajiv has achieved in influencing the adoption of healthy lifestyle modifications across at-risk groups makes him a true change maker,” said Neng Bing Doh, CEO of HealthCrowd. “Using technology to help address critical health problems, Rajiv brings a broad base of experience, perspective and knowledge about the intersection of social networking and wellness. We are extremely pleased that he is joining HealthCrowd’s advisory board and look forward to having him contribute in a meaningful way.”
HealthCrowd's DH*RMA platform is the first truly unified, end-to-end engagement platform for healthcare that optimizes multimodal communications, including text, interactive text response (ITR), chat, mobile web, email, voice (IVR), social and mail to deliver highly personalized, compliant and scalable patient engagement. HealthCrowd continuously measures the success of individual messages and infuses fresh, creative content into the platform to help organizations keep the attention of patients. An industry innovator, HealthCrowd helped to pioneer dynamic content and language-appropriate translations for mobile messaging and popularize the application of online advertising techniques like multivariate testing in patient engagement.
“Handling information delivery in a unified and personalized way is vital when it comes to promoting adherence and providing patient engagement that is lasting across diverse groups,” said Kumar. “HealthCrowd does this exceptionally well, offering an out-of-the-box approach that makes a measurable difference for healthcare payers and providers while changing lives for patients. I’m thrilled to work with HealthCrowd to introduce and drive new added-value across the continuum of patient care.”
Kumar is also founder of ShapeUp Rhode Island, a statewide exercise and weight loss campaign that encourages increased physical activity and better nutrition. During his career, he has been instrumental in helping to solve some of the world’s universal health issues. As co-founder of Adopt A Doctor, a non-profit organization that offers financial aid and other critical support for physicians in developing countries, he was instrumental in getting support to these doctors so they can stay, help cure treatable diseases and save thousands of lives. He earned an M.D. from Brown Medical School and a bachelor’s degree in business economics from Brown University.
