MediSend International Ships Medical Supplies to Philippines as Part of Recovery Effort
(PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- MediSend International is shipping a 40 foot ocean container filled with medical supplies to the Philippines, thanks to the generosity and support of Strasburger Law Firm, ESI-Estech Systems, MedSynergies, SB International and MAP International. The shipment will help replenish Tacloban City Hospital’s depleted supplies. The hospital is currently under renovation as part of public-private efforts to rehabilitate Tacloban, which bore the brunt of Super Typhoon ‘‘Yolanda’’ last year.
Typhoon Haiyan (called Yolanda in Philippines), one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall, swept across the Philippines in November of 2013. The storm has fallen out of the headlines but the effects are still pervasive, particularly in the highly populated seaside city of Tacloban, left virtually in ruins.
“We are proud to help in Tacloban’s recovery. It is our hope that this shipment offers relief to the healthcare workers and reduces suffering in the community,” said Dan Butcher, Managing Partner of Strasburger Law Firm. Individuals with the firm pooled donations and were instrumental in making the shipment possible.
Since 1990, MediSend has distributed medical supplies and equipment to hospitals in developing countries and, through emergency-aid programs, to areas suffering from natural disasters and emergencies. MediSend was one of the first humanitarian organizations to supply hospitals and clinics in Haiti with medical supplies following the devastating earthquake in 2010.
