In partnership with Volunteers of America, Innovest staff in its Sacramento office participated in the west coast office’s first annual Innovest Cares Day by helping returning veterans readjust to life at home. Innovest staff worked to create welcome gift packages filled with home goods such as cleaners, toiletries, kitchen items, and other supplies that a tight budget does not always afford.

Readjusting to everyday life after experiencing the demands of military service is no easy task, and Volunteers of America is doing its part to alleviate some of the stress and challenges of the return home. Innovest is committed to serving its community, much of which is built on the dedication and service of America’s veterans. This is the fourth event that Innovest has hosted in partnership with Volunteers of America, continuing its support for the organization’s charitable endeavors in local communities.

“For some Veterans, the effects of war leave a permanent mark which becomes almost insurmountable in their everyday life,” said Missy McVittie, coordinator of Innovest Cares Day, Sacramento. “Through various programs, Volunteers of America offers the guidance and support these veterans need – and deserve. I am proud to be part of an organization which realizes and promotes the ethos that it is not only our occasion to help support the community we live in but our duty.”

“The new household items are more than a nice touch to welcome a family to their new housing,” said Rachele Burton of Volunteers of America. “Many times our veteran's families have been living with friends, extended family, in a motel or sometimes in their car before entering Volunteers of America’s program. To enter their new home with even just a few basics can be a relief to an overwhelmed family. This small token of love can make a big difference.”
