Pita Social – a New Lexington Eatery With Great Mediterranean Flavors and a Relaxed, Sociable Atmosphere
Lexington, KY (PRWEB) May 09, 2014 -- One of Lexington, Kentucky’s newest restaurants, Pita Social offers fresh pita bread – baked fresh seven days a week—and promises fresh, healthy ingredients that taste like they were flown in from the Mediterranean but were grown or made locally.
Gaetan Herve, General Manager for the Restaurant group, confirmed that Pita Social’s menu was inspired by those foods associated with the healthy Mediterranean-style diet. “Fresh tomatoes, lettuces, avocados, olives, hummus, lightly spiced beef and chicken—it’s what we all love to eat, and it’s inside a pita wrap fresh from the oven,” said Herve.
Pita Social, which calls itself PS for short, also bakes whole-wheat pita bread, and makes its own sauces, hummus, salad dressings, and soups, including lentil and tomato soups. One of PS’s salad specialties is the chicken avocado salad. A salad with fresh butter lettuce, avocado, tomato, asparagus, grated parmesan cheese and freshly cooked marinated chicken. “A pita wrap and a chicken salad for lunch is a really tasty and satisfying combination of flavors,” Herve said, “and it’s much healthier for you than a fast-food burger.”
Pita Social’s unusual name hints at two of its key ingredients. As Herve said, “Of course we want people to come in and try the fresh pita wraps and other menu items, and take them to go if they must, but we hope they can take some time to sit, eat, and chat, because a little relaxation, some interesting conversation in the middle of a workday, or some social time at the end of a busy day, is good for the heart, the soul, and the mind.”
Herve pointed out that the restaurant is open seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. “You can call ahead and pick up something to go, but we encourage people to stay, eat, and visit. It’s a relaxed atmosphere where you can see your food being prepared, and the staff will take good care of you,” he said.
Lexington’s Pita Social location is the first of two planned for Lexington, with the second to open at Fayette Mall. We will have a mobile Pita Van to bring freshly made pitas wherever you are. “This is just the beginning for Pita Social,” Herve said. “We wanted to start in Lexington because this is ‘home.’ Our plans are to learn and grow here, then expand throughout the U.S. and hopefully globally in the next five years. You will be able to purchase our pita bread in local retail outlets soon. We think we’ve got a great concept, a menu based on healthy recipes from the Med, and we’re getting great reviews already.”
