“The blues phrasing on this just blows my mind every time, it’s just the quintessential vibrato and bending that is just so right”, says MacLennan, “Today’s riff is from a B minor blues and coming off a B minor pentatonic scale”. Jon demonstrates how to play the riff as follows; 12th fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger picked twice, to the 10th fret of the first string with first finger, bending slightly and then back to the previous note and then to the 10th fret of the 2nd string with first finger. Next Jon moves down to the 7th position and bending the 9th fret of the 3rd string with his 3rd finger to the 7th fret with first finger, played twice. Finally Jon finishes off the lick with the following sequence; 9th fret of the 3rd string with 3rd finger to the 9th fret of the 4th string with 2nd finger, picked twice, to the 7th fret of the 3rd string with first finger back to the 9th fret of the 4th string again, picked twice.
