Greenberg Traurig has state-wide representation with Chair and Speakers at 2014 Patent Disputes Forum

The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has cross-state representation with three intellectual property litigation attorneys participating in the Daily Journal and West LegalEdcenter conference "2014 Patent Disputes Forum" in Orange County.

Illustrating the depth of the firm’s statewide Intellectual Property and Technology Practice, Jeffrey. K. Joyner, of the Los Angeles office, is the conference co-chair and moderator of the panel “Best Practices for Avoiding and Resolving Patent Disputes: Licensing, Legislation, and Business Partnerships.” Joyner has previously co-chaired three Patent Disputes Forums in Silcon Valley. Franklin D. Ubell, of the Orange County office, is speaking on the panel “Patent Law Before the Supreme Court in 2014” and Dan McCloskey, of the Silicon Valley office, will participate on the panel “Patent Tiral Best Practices: Judge and Bar Perspectives.” The Conference takes place on May 6 at The Westin South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa.

Joyner represents Fortune 500 international and domestic companies in patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, including serving as lead trial counsel. His focus includes defending numerous companies in large joint defense groups as lead counsel throughout the U.S. in patent actions brought against multiple defendants in jurisdictions throughout the U.S. such as the Eastern District of Texas and Northern and Central Districts of California with respect to many technologies ranging from interactive website technology to medical devices and from game devices to plastics. Joyner serves as a board member of CleanTech Los Angeles and Seven Arrows School. He is co-chair of the e-Mobility Task Force for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, and a member of the Green Economy Committee of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.

Ubell was recognized in 2014 as “Lawyer of the Year, Patent Law, Orange County” by The Best Lawyers in America. He has more than 25 years experience as a litigator and counselor in the field of intellectual property. His practice has focused on patent, trademark and trade secret litigation, and he has wide-ranging experience in the areas of semiconductors, computer software, computer networking, medical devices, optics, LED lighting technology and telecommunication technology, including cellular and wireless technologies. He also has experience in litigation of unfair competition and antitrust matters. He has represented clients as lead counsel in both state and federal courts and has considerable first chair trial experience extending to both jury and non-jury proceedings.

McCloskey focuses his practice on litigation, trial, pre-litigation counseling and resolution with respect to patent, trademark and copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation and varied business contract and tort actions, including those related to fiduciary duty, unfair business practices, unfair competition, breach of contract, limited partnership disputes, interference, misrepresentation and fraud. He has wide-ranging business litigation experience, representing and advising clients in connection with the assessment, pursuit of and response to multimillion dollar claims, and with respect to injunctive relief. He has represented companies in jury and bench trials, as well as before appellate panels in state and federal courts. He counsels clients on intellectual property protection, enforcement and litigation strategy.
