Zimbra, a global leader in unified collaboration software, today announced the appointment of Olivier Thierry as the company’s new chief marketing officer (CMO). Thierry is responsible for the oversight of all global marketing activities for Zimbra, including product marketing, product management, partner enablement, demand generation, corporate communications, as well as Zimbra’s digital properties.

“Olivier is joining Zimbra at a time of rapid global growth and expansion in all three of our core constituents, employees, customers, and partners,” said Patrick Brandt, chief executive officer of Zimbra. “With more than 30 years of proven experience increasing market visibility and developing go-to-market strategies for both technology start-ups and mature public companies, Olivier is the right fit to lead Zimbra’s marketing strategy during this growth period. We look forward to his contributions as our organization continues to evolve as a global leader in collaboration and messaging software, with a strong commitment to open source, our partner ecosystem and providing end users with a great customer experience.”

Following the successful merger of Zimbra and Telligent into one cohesive organization over the last nine months, Thierry is coming in as CMO to build on the company’s past triumphs and fuel growth by delivering on Zimbra’s core competencies to its key constituents. Zimbra’s unique core competencies include open source, secure and private cloud, mobile, global reach through partner ecosystem and user experience. A results-driven marketing leader, Thierry will leverage his successful track record as a leading force in tech, coupled with his significant experience steering rapidly growing technology companies, to guide the strategic direction of the marketing team.

“Zimbra is a leading force in the collaboration market and has firmly positioned itself as a forward thinker that is focused, first and foremost, on meeting the needs of its customers and partners,” said Olivier Thierry, chief marketing office at Zimbra. “Zimbra’s momentum and industry leadership is impressive, and I am delighted to work with the talented team at Zimbra.”

Previous to joining Zimbra, Thierry served as chief marketing officer at Pivot3, a leader in software-defined converged storage appliances. Prior to Pivot3, he was the chief marketing officer at Zenoss and senior vice president of marketing and alliances at NetIQ (formerly Mission Critical Software). While at NetIQ, he substantially grew a 35-employee software company into a publicly traded corporation with over 1,500 employees and $300 million in annual revenue. He also was previously the chief executive officer at Fiveruns Corporation and held various positions in marketing and management at several startup companies.

Following the introduction of Zimbra’s latest Community product, Zimbra Community 8.0, and announcement of the company’s new executive appointments over global support, worldwide channels and sales for the Americas, the news of Thierry’s appointment is the latest in a series of major announcements and activities in recent months that testifies to Zimbra’s post-merger commitment to providing real, valuable benefits to the market and to its customers and partners.
