Transvaginal Mesh Lawyers at Parilman & Associates Alert Public to $830 Million Settlement for 22,000 Claims Against Endo International Plc.
(PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- The transvaginal mesh injury attorneys at Parilman & Associates represent consumers across the United States who have been wrongfully injured by several different products. These products include those that exist within the medical field such as prescription medication, over-the-counter medication and medical devices. The firm would like to alert the public to a recent article that appeared in Reuters that revealed that Endo International Plc. has agreed to settle more than 22,000 individual claims against it for an amount of $830 million.
The article appeared in Reuters on April 30, 2014 and it was entitled, “UPDATE 1-Endo agrees to $830 mln settlement of vaginal-mesh cases.” A link to the article can be found here. According to the article, Endo International Plc. manufacturers trans-vaginal mesh products used to help women deal with health conditions that include stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. In recent years, more than 22,000 plaintiffs have filed individual claims against the manufacturer alleging that these products did not function properly and that these malfunctions led to serious injuries.
All of these individual claims were consolidated into what is known as an MDL, or a Multi-District Litigation. The MDL was given a title of In re: American Medical Systems, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation and it was assigned a case number of MDL No. 2325. The case was proceeding in the United States District Court, Southern District of West Virginia. The Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin has been presiding over the matter. Given the amount involved in the settlement and the number of plaintiffs related to this matter, an average of $40,000 will be paid to each individual claimant.
While this transvaginal mesh settlement will bring an end to thousands of claims, the attorneys at Parilman & Associates would like to make sure that the public is aware of this development for several reasons. First, this settlement does not preclude other women who have been injured by trans-vaginal mesh products manufactured by Endo International Plc. from exploring their legal rights and options. Furthermore, the settlement also does not preclude women who may have been injured by trans-vaginal mesh products manufactured by other entities from also reviewing their situations with the help of transvaginal mesh attorneys. The attorneys at the firm encourage anyone who has these questions or concerns to seek immediate legal advice to clarify their situations.
