The Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the premier trade association for supply management professionals, recently recognized its Northern Virginia affiliate (ISM-NVA) for service and member excellence. ISM-NVA received the prestigious “Affiliate Excellence” award from ISM and Dale Bartholomew, ISM-NVA Director of Education, was recognized by ISM as “Person of the Year for Education/Learning.” Both awards were presented by ISM executives at ISM’s 2014 International Supply Management Conference held in Las Vegas, NV May 4-7, 2014, a conference attended by thousands. Irene Marnell, President of ISM-NVA, graciously accepted the award, “The Affiliate Excellence award is a source of great pride for our affiliate, and shows our dedication to help others in the profession as well as to provide the highest level of service to our members.” Marnell also commented on Bartholomew’s award, “Dale’s tireless efforts for both the ISM-NVA and the ISM-Cooperative Utilities affiliates attest to his strong philosophy of giving back to the supply management profession by preparing, educating, and mentoring others.”
ISM-NVA is a relatively new affiliate, started in 2012 and officially recognized by ISM in January 2013, but has progressed quickly in its mission to serve its members. Stephen Guth, Executive Sponsor of ISM-NVA, attributed the awards to the leadership and board of ISM-NVA, “As a founding member of ISM-NVA and tremendous leader, Irene has put her heart and soul into our affiliate since the beginning just a short while ago, and surrounded herself with solid board members to make a top-notch member-focused affiliate a reality for supply management professionals in Northern Virginia.” Irene Marnell added “I am just one of many very dedicated supply management professionals who contributed to winning this award, including Dale Bartholomew, Sarah Zhu, and Tim Davis from NRECA, Ted Carroll, Judy Pines, Clement Duquerroy, and Anu Saxena from Hilton Worldwide, Marlena Salgado-Felix from The World Bank, Helena Kanownik from Micron Technology, Patti Daily from National Geographic, Aaron Poh from Booz Allen Hamilton, Sil Gomez from Accenture, and student members from the University of Maryland such as Song Gao. We have also had strong support from NRECA, Hilton Worldwide, Micron Technology, and The World Bank. Together we have been successful in producing a lot of relevant events and content, making membership very worthwhile for companies in the region.”
