Stevens Institute of Technology Names Brodie Remington Vice President for Development
Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- Stevens Institute of Technology has announced the appointment of Brodie Remington, an experienced fundraising professional with thirty years of experience in higher education, its Vice President for Development. Remington will join Stevens at an important time in the university’s history, as Stevens strives to achieve the ambitious goals articulated in its 10-year strategic plan, including increasing the size and academic profile of its undergraduate and graduate student populations, increased engagement and participation of alumni, and planning for and implementation of a major capital campaign to increase the endowment and support academic and infrastructure priorities.
“Stevens is fortunate to have attracted a development leader of the caliber of Brodie Remington,” said Nariman Farvardin, President of Stevens. “Brodie’s broad and deep knowledge of fundraising and alumni relations, along with his integrity, his work ethic, and his longstanding commitment to advancing higher education demonstrated through leadership roles in prestigious universities over more than three decades, will make him a tremendous asset to Stevens.”
“It is a privilege to join President Farvardin’s leadership team and serve Stevens Institute of Technology. The quality of Stevens is palpable, and the value of its educational and research programs is bound to increase in the years ahead. I am joining an institution that is exciting and on the move,” said Remington.
Over the course of his 39-year career, Remington has led five successful fundraising campaigns for three universities. He joins Stevens from the University of Maryland, where he currently serves as advisor to the vice president for University Relations and Director of Leadership Gifts. While serving in this role, the University of Maryland’s development program was recognized by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) as “most improved.”
In prior years, Remington served as the president of the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, where he executed the $1 billion Great Expectations campaign. The campaign raised annual gift totals from $75 million to $125 million and increased the number of annual donors by 40 percent.
Prior to his post at the University of Maryland, he served as vice president of Development and Alumni Programs at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., leading fundraising efforts that surpassed a $125 million goal. At the University of Oregon, he played a lead role in executing a campaign that concluded with more than $100 million raised above expectations. Remington also served as assistant/associate vice president of Development and University Relations at the University of Pennsylvania and Director of the $1 billion Campaign for Penn.
"As we prepare for our future fundraising efforts, including a capital campaign, Brodie’s stellar career in fundraising at various prominent institutions of higher education demonstrates that he is the best person to lead these efforts,” said Stevens President Nariman Farvardin. “Over the next decade, Stevens will move toward a future of dynamic growth and international prominence as a premier technological research university.”
Remington holds an A.B. in history from the University of Rochester and an M.A. in American history from the University of Pennsylvania.
