Bojangles’ Restaurants Raise More Than a Half-Million Dollars for MDA Families
Charlotte, N.C. (PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- The Muscular Dystrophy Association announced today that Bojangles’ restaurants, with the help of its loyal customers, have raised a record-breaking $536,000 during the organization’s annual Shamrocks mobile program that will help send some 660 children affected by muscle disease to a weeklong, barrier-free MDA summer camp this year.
From Feb. 28 through March 16, Bojangles’ restaurants helped fight back against muscle disease by selling $1 green and $5 gold paper Shamrocks mobiles, which were bought and signed by customers and displayed in each location.
“Bojangles’ is proud to be a longtime supporter of MDA’s mission to fund research seeking treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases and to provide support and healthcare services to MDA families,” said Bojangles’ President and CEO Clifton Rutledge. “This year marked another successful Shamrocks campaign, thanks to our generous customers, without whom the success of this program would not be possible. MDA camp is a very special place, and we feel honored to play a small part in helping make this experience happen for children affected by muscle disease.”
Customers who purchased a green shamrock received a coupon for a free Bo-Berry Biscuit®, a Bojangles’ made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuit filled with blueberries and topped with a sweet icing drizzle. Customers who purchased a gold shamrock received a coupon for a free Bojangles’ Sausage Biscuit, featuring seasoned, zesty sausage on a freshly-made biscuit.
Funds raised through 2014 Shamrock sales will also help to support individuals and families living with neuromuscular disease by funding life-saving research, clinical care and support services.
“Over the years, Bojangles’ contributions to our cause have brought countless smiles to the faces of our MDA families, especially our MDA campers,” said MDA Divisional Director Theresa Miller. “From raising funds during Shamrocks season, to serving delicious chicken and biscuits at MDA Camp, Bojangles’ dedication is appreciated by those they touch, and we look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership.”
