ThreatMetrix to Host Cybercrime Prevention Summit 2014: “Building Trust on the Internet”
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) May 07, 2014 -- ThreatMetrix®, the fastest-growing provider of context-based security and advanced fraud prevention solutions, announced today the ThreatMetrix® Cybercrime Prevention Summit 2014, themed “Building Trust on the Internet.” The fourth annual summit will take place November 5-7 at the La Quinta Resort and Club, Palm Springs, Calif.
The ThreatMetrix Cybercrime Prevention Summit 2014 is the largest of its kind, bringing together more than 250 cybersecurity experts from around the globe to share strategies for making the Internet safer for business.
As major breaches in retail, financial services and other industries continuously increase – the Identity Theft Resource Center recorded 614 data breaches in 2013, a 30 percent increase over 2012 – the summit will focus on building trust on the Internet through a collective approach to cybersecurity. The ThreatMetrix® Global Trust Intelligence Network, the world’s largest trusted identity network, enables such an approach by sharing threat intelligence across more than 2,500 customers and 500 million monthly transactions.
“Businesses are challenged by not only working to keep the bad actors away from their sites, but doing so while maintaining a frictionless experience for their trusted employees and customers,” said Bert Rankin, chief marketing officer, ThreatMetrix. “By connecting with experts and peers, summit attendees will learn best practices for collective cybersecurity strategies necessary to streamline customer and employee access while protecting online accounts and data.”
The conference will connect industry experts, technologists and other fraud prevention and cybersecurity practitioners across a wide range of verticals in the scenic desert setting of Palm Springs. The summit will offer attendees the chance to make direct, meaningful connections through various activities. Expert speakers at the summit will present on topics ranging from “Top Trends in Cybercrime” to “Best Practices to Fight E-Commerce Fraud.”
Among the expert speakers is Byron Acohido, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and current editor-in-chief at Last Watchdog and The Securitist, where he reports on tech, security and privacy topics. Earlier in his career, Acohido was a journalist for USA Today, where he won national recognition for cybersecurity and other technology reporting.
Another featured speaker is Julie Conroy, research director at Aite Group. Conroy has more than a decade of hands-on experience covering fraud and data security and has worked with a variety of financial institutions, payments processers, and risk management companies.
“The ThreatMetrix Cybercrime Prevention Summit 2014 offers attendees the unique opportunity to connect one-on-one both inside and outside the confines of a conference room,” said Rankin. “Whether on the golf course or hearing from a world-class cybersecurity expert during a speaking session, all attendees will return from the summit reinvigorated and with new insights to adapt to the ever-evolving Internet threats.”
