Forerunner 15 by Garmin bridges the gap between GPS and activity tracker bands meaning much more accurate distance, plus steps, calories, pace, maps and more.
"This is a big development because activity tracker bands are just not accurate on distance and a new study from University of Texas Austin proved accelerometers to be 5% or more inaccurate on distance", says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "The only other watch that has activity tracking with GPS is the Polar V800 at $450 and up".
"Garmin 15 monitors 24/7 activity, steps, calories, heart rate, alerts you to periods of inactivity, plus does distance, pace and more", says Squire. He adds, "This watch can even give you post-activity maps in Garmin Connect software, a feature that no activity trackers have".
"You can even use a foot pod with Garmin Forerunner 15 to get accurate pace and distance indoors or on a treadmill", says Squire. He adds, "Forerunner 15 is also water resistant so you can swim with it and get it wet".
"This unit can download data to Mac or PC and gives you daily summaries plus details on pace for each mile", says Squire. he adds, "This is a real step forward in activity tracker technology".
"We've spent several years testing the accuracy of GPS watches against wheel measurement and most devices are within 1% or less of dead accurate which makes them far more accurate than accelerometers use in pedometers or activity trackers", says Squire.
Availability and Price
Forerunner 15 is available for advance ordering now at the Heart Rate Watch Company and should be delivered in June", says Squire. He adds, "The units will sell for $169 without heart rate strap and for $199 with heart rate".
