Justice on Behalf of Drunk Driving Accident Victim
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 09, 2014 -- In the case of Lonnie Bamburg vs. Joseph Cooper, Jr., State Court of Douglas County, Georgia, Civil Action No.: CAFN: 12SV00464, Michelman of Monge and Associates obtained legal justice for client Lonnie Bamburg, who was unexpectedly hit by a drunk driver in Douglasville, Georgia on his way home. Serving as another classic example as to how attorneys at Monge and Associates continually make an concerted effort to eliminate the bills and stress associated with becoming injured or disabled, Michelman’s tactics to impeach the Defendant on his version of events resulted in a settlement check of $99,000.00.
“We are very pleased to see a positive outcome," says Scott G. Monge. “We hope this outcome sends a message about the dangers of drinking and driving.”
According to court documents, on April 15, 2012, Lonnie Bamburg was struck by the rearview mirror of a pickup truck while walking home. Although he was walking along the shoulder of the roadway when he was struck, the accident caused Bamburg to suffer a fracture of the humorous bone in his left arm, which accumulated to $18,000.00 in medical bills. In response, Allstate denied Bamburg’s claim and offered a settlement of zero.
Due to discrepancies between the Defendant’s claim in his deposition under oath and the information he relayed to a 911 operator, Monge and Michelman were able to raise allegations that it was a hit and run collision and that the Defendant had been drinking at a bar named Johnny’s Hideaway in Atlanta prior to the incident.
To avoid a potential excess judgment, Allstate authorized a settlement check to Lonnie Bamburg in the amount of $99,000.00 on Friday, April 18th, 2014. This signifies a tremendous victory, as the settlement check is 5 times larger than Mr. Bamburg’s medical bills from the accident.
While each personal injury and accident case handled by Monge and Associates is unique in its own right, Scott Monge concluded that the law firm is simply happy to see that Bamburg received a fair settlement check after two years of extensive suffering, concluding, “We are glad to see justice done.”
