Celebrate 30 Years of D.A.N.C.E. Featuring Peter Martins; Watch the World Renowned Ballet Master Teach an Advanced Class Followed by a Special Benefit Luncheon
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 25, 2014 -- On May 10th from 12:30-4:00 p.m., the 30 year anniversary of D.A.N.C.E will be celebrated with a special event. DANCE stands for Danish American National Cultural Exchange and was formed 30 years ago. DANCE gives scholarships to promising dancers from the American School of Ballet and The Royal Danish Ballet giving them the opportunity to study at both schools.
D.A.N.C.E was founded by Neel Resling Halpern and Edward Michaelsen with inspiration from Frank Andersen and Peter Martins. Mrs. Halpern guided this successful program until 1996 when Bent Olrik took over as Chairman, developing the concept further. Mrs’s Halpern's daughter Lisa Resling Halpern still leads the program today together with Hanne Hochheim.
Guests will have the rare opportunity to see Ballet Master in Chief and Artistic Director of the New York City Ballet, Peter Martins, teaching an advanced class of the School of American Ballet students in an actual studio setting. The class will be immediately followed by a very special anniversary benefit luncheon on location, where this year’s D.A.N.C.E scholarship recipients will be announced.
The program includes:
12:30-2:00 p.m. – Class taught by Peter Martins.
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Luncheon with announcement of this year’s scholarship recipients and remarks by Peter Martins.
