Arizona School for the Arts in Phoenix Ends School Year on a High Note
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) May 08, 2014 -- Founded in 1995, Arizona School for the Arts (ASA) in Phoenix represents an innovative model in education with a concentration on college preparation through immersion in the performing arts. Showcase 2014 is ASA’s signature year-end event to highlight the achievements of students in music, dance and theater arts. Nearly all of ASA's 800 students will perform in Showcase 2014; ballet, jazz, piano quartets and women’s choir are just a few of the many scheduled performances. The event, supported by local businesses and donors, takes place on May 28th & 29th at The Orpheum Theater in downtown Phoenix.
A recipient of the Governor's Arts in Education Award, ASA was founded on the principle that artistic development, particularly based in music, combined with academic achievement would lead to expanded opportunities for young people in college, career and community leadership. “The Showcase 2014 event is an opportunity for ASA students to share their extraordinary talents with our community and supporters,” said Leah Fregulia Roberts, head of school/CEO of ASA. “Our students have excelled in academics as well as the arts and their dedication and hard work throughout the year is celebrated at this exciting, premier event.”
Throughout the year, ASA sponsors several events that showcase student achievements in the arts or serve as fundraising opportunities for the school. An Evening with Joe Locke and Arizona School for the Arts, which takes place at the Phoenix Art Museum on May 16th, is just one of the events hosted by ASA.
