John Havlicek tells us, "I am proud to have established the John Havlicek Celebrity Fishing Tournament, benefiting the Genesis Foundation for Children. For the past 33 years we have raised millions of dollars for children born with birth defects and genetic abnormalities. Hopefully the funds we have raised for their care and treatment will have made meaningful differences in the patient’s lives and their families. I am very proud to be associated with the Genesis Foundation for children."
John Havlicek’s son, Chris Havlicek, has followed in his father’s footsteps as a board member of The Genesis Foundation for Children. He is quoted as saying, "I have been a part of this fishing tournament every year since I was ten years old, and I am so happy that it continues today. We have raised so much money for so many families throughout New England and I am honored to serve this great organization. My wife and I hope we can continue the work my parents started in 1980 for many years to come." The Genesis Foundation for Children is a New England based non-profit organization. They provide the funding necessary to diagnose and coordinate compassionate care of children that were born with physical and intellectual disabilities, and genetic disorders. The goal of The Genesis Foundation for Children is that all children born with these challenges get the care and attention they need to reach their full potential.
