Omega3 Innovations Encourages Public to Vote for Summer Omega Cookie® Flavor

Piña Colada or Berry Blast? The Venice-based biotech company offers customers the choice between two seasonal flavors for its limited edition omega-3 cookie.

Each Omega Cookie features 2000 mg of EPA/DHA from fresh, full-spectrum fish oil, five grams of gluten-free oat fiber, 800 IUs of vitamin D and calcium.

In preparation for the start of summer, Omega3 Innovations is launching its second limited edition Omega Cookie flavor. This time, the company will determine the new flavor profile by public vote cast on the Omega3 Innovations blog. The choice comes down to two different recipes - either the Piña Colada or the Berry Blast.

“We wanted our customers to be able to choose between bold, seasonal flavors,” said Carol Urofsky, who leads the Omega3 Innovations bakery. “Both of these cookies will be perfect for summer. Now, all we need to know is which one we will be baking in two weeks.”

According to Urofsky, the Piña Colada cookie combines toasted coconut and pineapple, while the Berry Blast features a mix of cranberries, blueberries and cherries.

Whichever flavor wins, the summer Omega Cookie will be the company’s fourth limited edition product. It follows the Apple Cinnamon Raisin Omega Cookie, released in October 2013; the Mint Omega Passion® chocolate truffle, which appeared in December; and the Cherry Omega Heaven™ chocolate-covered cookie, launched just before Valentine’s Day.

Currently, Omega3 Innovations offers three signature Omega Cookie flavors available throughout the year: Chocolate Chip, Cranberry and Ginger Raisin. Each Omega Cookie features 2000 mg of EPA/DHA from fresh, full-spectrum fish oil, five grams of gluten-free oat fiber, 800 IUs of vitamin D and calcium. In addition, none of Omega3 Innovations’ products contain trans fats, added sugars, or preservatives.

“Our customers have a deep love for the current Omega Cookie presentation,” said Dr. Bo Martinsen, Omega3 Innovations’ co-founder and CEO. “We are not touching the core ingredients, but we do want to provide our customers with new ways to experience our omega-3 products.”

Urofsky says voting remains open until midnight on Monday, May 12, 2014. Besides its blog, the company also collects votes through the front door and at the Sarasota Farmer’s Market. Following the announcement of the winning flavor, the summer limited edition Omega Cookie will be available for purchase starting May 19, 2014.
