Matthews, NC (PRWEB) May 10, 2014 -- Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club is pleased to announce that its Junior Air Rifle Team has won the North Carolina 3 Position Air Rifle Junior Olympic State Championship, with an overall team score of 2116-59. The competition was held on April 23, 2014 and included teams from all over North Carolina.
In addition to the team’s win in the overall match, CRPC Junior Air Rifle Team athlete, Brian Hampton, placed first in the Sporter Class Individual category with an overall score of 564-26.
“We began our Junior Rifle Team as a free resource for kids in the local community to learn gun safety and marksmanship skills. While we are delighted that this program has developed into a winning team, we are especially proud that our young people are also learning the importance of commitment, responsibility, and self-discipline. These important attributes will serve them well throughout their lives,” said Joe Balich, Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club President.
In Sporter Class Three Position Air Rifle (3PAR), athletes shoot standard air rifles at targets set at a distance of 10 meters. Each athlete must shoot a total of twenty shots from each of three positions - prone, standing, and kneeling.
The team will travel to the Camp Perry, Ohio for the National Three Position Air Rifle Junior Olympic Championship to be held on June 23-25, 2014.
