Wisconsin-based Alta Resources, a global provider of customer management business process outsourcing (BPO), raised nearly $303,000 to support various local United Way organizations.
Bringing together its U.S. locations in Wisconsin, California and Florida, Alta Resources annually runs United Way campaigns, with donations benefiting United Way organizations in those respective states. Each local United Way, in turn, distributes essential funds to various United Way partner agencies in their areas. For its United Way campaign 2013–14, Alta Resources employees raised, through donations and special events, $201,962, and the company matched $100,981, proving to be its most successful United Way campaign to date.
Alta Resources’ Wisconsin campaign resulted in $244,452 raised, 102 individuals donating at the Emerging Leader and Leadership Giving levels (collectively), and two distinct awards from the United Way Fox Cities: the Outstanding Leadership & Emerging Leaders Campaign Award as well as the Outstanding Campaign Team of the Year (Large Employer) Award. Just one year prior, the United Way Fox Cities recognized Alta Resources with the Employee Giving Award, which recognizes the greatest percentage increase in employee giving.
Chief Information Officer Steve Hyde, who served as Alta Resources’ United Way chairperson for the 2013–14 campaign in Wisconsin, represented Alta Resources at a United Way Fox Cities reception and was presented with the Outstanding Campaign Team of the Year Award. Hyde was also in attendance at the release of United Way Fox Cities’ 2013 Annual Report last month; in the report, Alta Resources ranked fourth in both employee giving and participation (71 percent). In addition, it finished fourth in overall giving and fifth in leadership giving, increasing from its sixth- and seventh-place finishes for the 2012–13 campaign year, respectively.
Hyde said, “Being involved with this campaign has filled me with both pride and humility. The people of Alta Resources, time and again, step up to make a difference locally. Each year, we strive to exceed our own expectations, and this year was no different. But I’m also humbled by how many needs exist in the areas around us, so, with the donations raised, we’re optimistic that more lives might be impacted and increasing needs might be met.”
Alta Resources’ Chairman and CEO Jim Beré, who also serves on the Leadership Giving Committee for the United Way Fox Cities, commented on the recent campaign, “Alta Resources is founded on values called Guiding Principles. Alta Resources’ efforts in Wisconsin were complemented by an inaugural United Way campaign in Fort Myers, Florida, where the company opened a facility in 2013 as part of its ongoing growth and expansion. Alta Resources’ Florida campaign raised $18,335, which combined employee donations of $12,223 and a company match of $6,111.
In addition, Alta Resources’ Brea, California, location ran a successful campaign, with a majority 82-percent employee participation and $38,595 raised. Around the time that those totals were announced, the Orange County Register also released its “Top Workplaces” list for 2013, and Alta Resources again made the list — a result of a countywide employee survey and an annual recognition for Alta Resources since 2009.
