Vinitaly International Academy and Chinese Importers Together in the Name of Italian Wine
Shanghai (PRWEB) May 12, 2014 -- Everything is ready for the great debut in the Chinese metropolis. Vinitaly will return with a smaller event than the one held in Verona back in April, but with the same two watchwords of Changdu: the collaboration with local importers and the promotion of education thanks to the prestigious Vinitaly International Academy (VIA).
Ten masterclasses in three days during which Vinitaly will take on a leading role together with more than 10 Italian wine importers from four different cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Seven of these will be holding a series of masterclasses in collaboration with four local media partners who have enthusiastically embraced Veronafiere’s project in Shanghai: Vinehoo, TasteSpirit, WineLuxe and Winepress.
Each day will open with an Executive Wine Seminar (“A panorama of Italy’s many great and diverse wines, part. I” 13 May, from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm (introductory level), “A panorama of Italy’s many great and diverse wines, part. II” 14 May from 9.30 am to 11.00 am (introductory level) and “Brunello di Montalcino: Italy’s most classic: ageworthy Sangiovese wines” (advanced level) 15 May from 9.30 am to 11.00 am) hosted by Doctor Ian D’Agata, Scientific Director of VIA and one of the greatest experts of Italian wine in the world.
The masterclasses – open only to operators and media – will focus on some of Italy’s best wineries each representing a specific Italian region, from Piedmont to Sicily, from Tuscany to Veneto and Apulia. Amarone, Barolo, Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Primitivo and Prosecco will play host at Vinitaly’s event in Shanghai.
Two top producers of the Made in Italy Food and Beverage sector will contribute to Vinitaly’s project at Sial Wine World: Fabbri 1905, a company from Bologna, that has more than doubled its turnover since its first arrival in China in 2010 and MioEspresso, undisputed leader for the production of coffee capsules. These will be the true protagonists of the Vinitaly Lounge and the Italian Aperitivo to be held on the 13th and the 14th of May.
Expectations are high for this area of 84sqm that Vinitaly will entirely dedicate to education thanks to its collaboration with local importers. “Together with VIA, these are the new ambassadors of Italian wine” says Stevie Kim, managing director of Vinitaly International, “We have fulfilled the promise we made during the round table with Ambassador Bradanini during the offsite showcase in Chengdu back in March. With two events in China in less than two months, we aim to make Italian wine the real protagonist of the Chinese wine market. The Chinese operators themselves are increasingly asking for more Italian wine”.
Sial Wine World in Shanghai represents another milestone this year for Vinitaly. Its return to China after four years - with Chengdu in March- a record breaking edition in Verona with the historic visit of the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, and the assignment in those same days, of the wine pavilion to Veronafiere (Vinitaly is one of its products- editor’s note) during the coming Universal Exhibition 2015 in Milan.
