I am a strong believer in education and all dentists go through tough dental training. I welcome the fact that all dentists must be registered with the GDC in the UK.

Tariq Drabu is a leading dentist and specialist oral surgeon in Manchester in the United Kingdom. He is one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the UK and spent years working in busy dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia before obtaining his Fellowship in Oral Surgery from Edinburgh University. Dr Drabu is also the owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice and is the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Assessment Clinic and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. He also mentors and tutors postgraduate students in oral surgery at the UCLAN Dental Clinic in Preston.

Tariq Drabu was speaking about an article published in the Dental Tribune website on a dentist which was suspended for poor treatment and behaviour. The full article can be read here.

Tariq Drabu in Manchester said, “The dental profession has a duty to provide patients with the highest level of professionalism and care. It is important that patients are aware of the treatment options available to them and the cost of those treatments. It is also imperative that patients are seen to in a timely manner.”

Tariq Drabu went on to say, “It is a serious concern when you see that there are dentists that are being dismissive towards their patients, not providing them with the information and treatment they deserve. Many patients are already anxious about going to the dentist and leave it until the last minute, usually when they are in pain. This means they need to be seen to quickly and treated in a sympathetic manner, they need to understand what the problem is and how it can be treated, along with the cost of that treatment.”

Tariq Drabu closed in saying, “I am a strong believer in education and all dentists go through tough dental training. I welcome the fact that all dentists must be registered with the GDC in the UK, because we are welcoming a number of dentists from other countries to work here, yet our rules and regulations may differ from theirs. At Langley Dental Practice we pride ourselves on our service and care that we provide our patients. The team are all focussed on educating the patient in terms of oral care, treatments available and the cost of those treatments, which is why we have such glowing reviews on the NHS Choices website, which can be found here. It is also imperative that dentists do not carry out any treatment until it has been explained and approved by the patient.”
