Lima, Peru (PRWEB) May 14, 2014
Developers, engineers and software students are set to gather in Lima, Peru on May 17, 2014 to develop social projects in Peru's first ever day-long marathon of its kind. On this date, the Pontific Catholic University of Peru will be transformed into an Agile development center. Programmers from around the country will gather to develop and create software within a limited timeframe that will conclude with the exposition of fully functional apps based upon social ends.
Belatrix Software, a leader in Agile Software development and testing, organized this social hackathon in order to promote and support team software development. They also hope to contribute to the learning process of development tools and practices and generate a positive impact in Lima.
Registration for the event began several weeks ago, and there are already over a hundred attendees ready and eager to face the challenge. Even those who have no programming knowledge at all can participate by suggesting project ideas via social media or the event's website, http://hackatrix.belatrixsf.com/2014/. On the day of the Hackatrix, each team will chose an idea and work to create a new software application based upon it.
To succeed, team members must find a way to balance individual and collective knowledge and experience, as well as overcome extreme time and resource limitations. At the end of the day, a panel of tech experts and delegates from Lima universities will judge the results from each individual project, and then choose a winner. The individual reward consists of an advanced programming course and several other prizes. The winning team will receive a Scrum master course valued at USD 800 and a Samsung tablet to raffle among the members.
The entire process will follow Agile methodologies and each group of programmers will be guided by "Scrum Masters," experts from Belatrix. The objective is to show the advantages of this methodology and introduce the attendees to the world of Agile in a short, intensive, practical training. This initiative is a part of ongoing training efforts by Belatrix in the tech sector, and they have been actively promoting events and courses in Lima over the past several months.
“We’re very pleased with the excitement and anticipation the Hackatrix has generated in Lima," said Fernando Gonzalez, Maketing director of Belatrix Latam. "The number of attendees grows every day, and we expect the result will be high quality software apps to give back to society and demonstrate how the development community can support social causes."
