Former Ocean Beach Resort Transforms into Chic, Contemporary Beachfront Lodging Opens for Season on May 23, 2014

An iconic landmark on the famed Montauk coastline for more than 30 years, the Ocean Beach Resort has undergone a Cinderella transformation and will debut as the Montauk Blue Hotel for the 2014 season. A fresh, modern vibe has been infused into the property, and the “seaside chic” style brings an elevated level of sophistication to Montauk’s landscape of beachfront properties. Reservations can be made by calling 800-232-2438 or online at Rates start at $299/room for the 2014 summer season.

Located just steps from Montauk’s relaxed-yet-vibrant town center, the hotel’s 82 studio-style guest rooms have been dramatically renovated to bring a diverse contemporary palette of soothing ocean and sand tones to the interiors. New furniture and fixtures were thoughtfully selected to suit both the design sensibility and practical accommodation needs of today’s traveler seeking to enjoy a vacation on Long Island’s tony East End. All rooms feature ocean-facing decks or terraces, as well as microwaves, petite refrigerators, intimate dining table and chairs, spacious seating areas with sofabeds, and elegant marble bathrooms. Precisely-placed bedside reading sconces and generously-sized flat screen televisions offer a nighttime complement to long days on the beach, while complimentary wi-fi keeps them connected to the world.

Each of the property’s four lodge-style buildings have been painted a cool blue with bright cobalt doors, and sit between the beckoning beach coastline and the hotel’s atrium-enclosed pool and hot tub. The beachfront side features an expansive sundeck with chaise loungers perched atop the dunes, while the poolside offers a patio area for guest use and shaded seating areas for outdoor dining. Inside the renovated lobby, guests will now find Blue’s Book Nook, a lending library of beach reads that lets guests take or leave books at their leisure.

“The unit owners are excited to make this transformation of the property a reality”, says Sadie Mitnick, President of the Board of Directors. “A tremendous effort was put into the thought and investment of this makeover, assuring we deliver a dramatic change in the style, comfort and overall feel of the resort.” As part of a long term investment process the hotel will deliver the newest most modern rooms with an unparalleled level of service to guests this summer.

The new Montauk Blue Hotel logo is a symbol of the property’s whimsical personality, which encourages guests to immerse themselves in the seaside chic lifestyle. From the Montauk Blue “home base,” guests can walk to nearly everything the town has to offer, from cultural events on Montauk’s Green and the diverse array of restaurants and shops, to daily activities on the beach from morning sunrise to nightly bonfires under the starry sky.
