The Original Ice Road Trucker to Lead the Way at This Year's Special Olympics Largest Truck Convoy in Nova Scotia
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 27, 2014 -- Special Olympics Nova Scotia announced today that author, speaker and star of Ice Road Truckers, Alex Debogorski will be the Convoy Marshal at this year’s World’s Largest Truck Convoy benefitting the organization and its programs.
This is the third year for this event but the first one for “Uncle” Alex Debogorski. The Truck Convoy® is a unique one-day celebration of the trucking industry and its support of Special Olympics.
Alex said, “I’m so excited to be getting involved with an organization that does so much for its athletes and an event that brings together a community of athletes, families, friends, colleagues, law enforcement and all the organizations, companies and agencies that make up the trucking industry.” He continued, “It’s a good time and an even better cause. I want everyone who can to spread the word or give what they can.”
Anne Marie Shannon, spokesperson for Special Olympics Nova Scotia said, “We are thrilled to have Alex join the ranks of Nova Scotia truckers to support Special Olympics athletes. His generosity to help raise money for athletes with a disability is admirable. This event is about celebrating the partnership between Special Olympics, the Law Enforcement community and the Trucking Industry, but the end result is much more. From strangers to friends, we are helping to broaden our fan base and educate people on the what our athletes CAN do, not can’t do.”
