The move to HTML5 represents a strategic advantage for Newton, our partners and our customers.

Newton, a leading provider of applicant tracking systems and hiring software for small and medium-sized employers, announced today that they have released a responsive version of their platform that empowers users to interact with the product from any smartphone, tablet and internet browser without downloading any special apps.
Newton completely re-architected their product. The new version utilizes the most modern web technologies available including HTML5 and is completely optimized for mobile use. This version of Newton is being offered to all customers as a free upgrade. Hundreds of users are already using the new responsive version of Newton as a part of a beta program. All users will be upgraded systematically over the next several weeks.
Hiring managers, recruiters, HR personnel and executives all need to access recruiting information from mobile devices and screens of various sizes. Newton’s responsive product solves this problem by responding to the environment, juxtaposing data based on screen size. For example, when a user logs into Newton on an iPhone or tablet, the software adapts to the smaller screen. On a laptop display or a wide screen monitor, Newton will expand and use every available pixel for the best viewing experience. Utilizing the latest web technologies, this version of Newton will be future ready for devices and environments that haven’t even been released yet.
“Re-architecting Newton in HTML5 to be responsive has not been easy. We’ve spent more time on this redesign than on any release in Newton’s short history. This is an exciting time. Now that Newton has the most modern platform in the industry, we have already shifted our resources and we’re developing new functionality that will offer our customers more customization options and new tools that address the problems that matter most in corporate recruiting,” says Joel Passen, Newton’s Head of Marketing and Co-Founder.
“The move to HTML5 also represents a strategic advantage for Newton, our partners and our customers. It will be nearly impossible for vendors with large code bases to re-architect their products to match Newton’s speed and responsiveness. And, even the smaller vendors won’t be able to ignore mobility issues. Scrolling, zooming, pinching and squinting are not viable options for users anymore and app strategies limiting for a variety of reasons. We’ve set the bar with this release,” Passen goes on to say.
Newton will use this major upgrade to HTML5 as a springboard to release additional features and functionality every 6-8 weeks for the remainder of the year. Future enhancements to Newton’s hiring software will focus on solving day-to-day recruiting inefficiencies, compliance challenges and hiring workflow issues commonly faced by small and medium-sized employers.
Newton is an applicant tracking system designed to organize and improve internal hiring programs for small and medium-sized employers (30-3000 employees).
