Alicare Medical Management (AMM) received two prestigious Case in Point Platinum Awards during Dorland Health’s 5th Annual Care Coordination Summit on May 5, 2014, in Washington, DC. Case in Point Platinum Awards recognize professionals and organizations making significant headway to address the challenges affecting the U.S. health care system.
AMM won an award for its 24 Hour Nurse HelpLine program in which experienced registered nurses are available 24/7/365 to provide health information and education to patients and their families, directing patients to the appropriate level of care and reducing unnecessary health care costs. One of the important program innovations is its integration with AMM’s case management, utilization management and disease management programs. AMM’s Nurse HelpLine has been operational since 1995 and was one of the first in the country to receive URAC accreditation for its program.
In addition to recognition of its Nurse HelpLine program, AMM’s director of case management, Barbara Shaffer, RN, received the award for leadership in the individual professional category. AMM also received an honorable mention in the Pediatric Case Management category for its work with neurologically impaired children. In 2013, AMM was honored with the Case in Point Platinum Award for its Diabetic Management Program.
