These winners and all who participated inspire us, and we are thrilled to share their ideas for teaching critical thinking.
Sugar Land, TX (PRWEB) May 13, 2014
Mentoring Minds announced today the winners of the 2014 “Real Classrooms. Real Results™.” contest celebrating the creative ways schools and districts are integrating critical thinking into teaching and learning. The winners are:
- Grand prize winner of $10,000 – Fort Bend ISD, Stephen F. Austin High School, Bob Chreste, Sugar Land, Texas
- Second place winner of $3,000 – Longfellow Elementary, DeeDee Owens Baker, Santa Fe, Texas
- Third place winner of $1,500 – Vista Elementary, Kevin Garcia, Tyler, Texas
To enter the contest, schools submitted an essay and photo that best captured critical thinking in the classroom, on campus or around the district. The public voted on their favorites to determine the top 15 semifinalists. The semifinalists then submitted a short video based on their essay and photo, and the video entries were once again voted on by the public.
“At Mentoring Minds, we equip teachers with tools that develop critical thinking skills so that students graduate ready to tackle complex real-world problems,” said CEO Robert Bush. “These winners and all who participated inspire us, and we are thrilled to share their ideas for teaching critical thinking.”
