Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 14, 2014
Family tourists visiting Chicago often overlook one of the city's greatest, free assets: Its playgrounds. Above and beyond visiting playgrounds is immersing families into the surrounding neighborhoods and really experiencing a day of culture off the beaten, expensive, tourist paths.
In its 2nd year, the Playground Pointers factual, searchable iPhone App is the perfect tool for families visiting Chicago. The App now includes over 1,000 playgrounds, covering all City of Chicago playgrounds as well as expansion to the suburbs. The App captures data such as access via public transportation, available restrooms, water features and additional play options, to name a few. In addition, there are over 3,500 detailed photos of the play equipment so families can find the perfect playground based on their children’s ages.
A new addition to the app, “Your Perfect Playground Day” is a feature that offers up suggestions to make a fun-filled day of play that involves not just the playground but also local museums, family-friendly restaurants, public libraries or adventures only Chicago locals know about.
Both Playground Pointers, and its Founder, Mistie Lucht, are great resources for Chicagoland playgrounds. With the Chicago Plays! initiative in full renovation mode, Lucht is tracking new playground openings and adding those photos into the app, so families touring the city can experience the newest, most unique playgrounds with their kids.
The App is available on iTunes for $1.99, and updates automatically as new information and photos are added.
Playground Pointers is the brainchild of Mistie Lucht and Chris Cooper. Lucht is a former marketing and sales director and mother of three young girls. An outdoor enthusiast and avid runner, Lucht created Playground Pointers to make it easier for moms and caregivers to keep their children healthy and happy through outdoor play, while exploring the great city of Chicago.
Cooper is a technology professional with a passion for product development. Over the years, he's spent countless hours exploring new playgrounds with his four kids.
Playground Pointers is currently only available for Chicagoland playgrounds, including listings for all city of Chicago playgrounds as well as expansion to the suburbs.
