Scopewell is changing the way home remodeling is bought and sold. Scopewell’s unique application of estimating software and processes to connect homeowners and contractors give homeowners the information needed to make wise decisions regarding home repairs, remodeling and additions. However, it is not a contractor review site; it helps both homeowners and contractors throughout the home improvement process. Scopewell is a new company, but it is backed by years of experience in the form of founder, Jack Giacobbi.

“After years in home contracting and commercial estimating, I decided to bring some of the commercial discipline and tools to the residential market,” said Jack Giacobbi, Scopewell founder and president. “Even small home repair or improvement projects can cost thousands of dollars. We help homeowners be confident in their buying decisions."

Giacobbi believes homeowners and contractors deserve transparency in pricing and a neutral party through which to exchange information. Scopewell provides the structure and process for that transparency to happen.

Scopewell’s four step process helps homeowners and contractors communicate better and focus on getting projects done:
1.    Estimating - service that provides a projected cost for a home repair or remodel project. Homeowners use the report to ensure fair comparison between submitted bids; contractors have clear direction when bidding.
2.    Bidding - homeowners can use their project estimate with any contractor, but Scopewell does offer a bidding service using contractors vetted by Scopewell.
3.    Contracting and Escrow - once a contractor is chosen, a neutral contracting arrangement is available to Scopewell customers. This includes escrowing payment funds until satisfacto-ry project completion of the work.
4.    Complete! - Scopewell mediates any disputes between homeowner and contractor and the contractor is paid.

Homeowners can purchase only the estimating report, or engage the full bid, contract, completion service.

“We want to give homeowners the information they need, and contractors the opportunity to estimate on a firm spec,” said Giacobbi. “With our service, both parties get what they want and need so the job gets done right.
