Charlotte, North Carolina (PRWEB) May 14, 2014 -- Defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney headlines a list of 22 CFPA Trophy winners selected in the 2014 NFL Draft. Clowney, the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Defensive Lineman Trophy winner, was the first overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Clowney was presented with the 2012 CFPA Defensive Lineman Trophy during the South Carolina spring game on April 13, 2013. CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith was on hand to present the award at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.
The 2012 CFPA Defensive Lineman Trophy was presented during a special halftime ceremony. Clowney accepted the award at midfield to a standing ovation and posed for photos. Head Coach Steve Spurrier announced the award from the field, while also recognizing CFPA Trophy winners Marcus Lattimore and Melvin Ingram in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
"It's a nice trophy," said Clowney. "I've never had a trophy like that, so I'm excited about it."
