Imprezzio Marketing is pleased to announce that Colan Nielsen, the Local SEO Manager, has been chosen by Google to join its elite group of Top Contributors. Colan joins Imprezzio Marketing Director Joy Hawkins as the second Google and Your Business TC in the organization and the 9th in North America. There are estimated to be around 550 Google TCs worldwide.
Colan has earned his green-and-white expert’s badge in the “Google and Your Business Forum,” an English-language community where business people can get help using Google products for work. The selection criteria for Google’s Top Contributors include stellar product knowledge, the ability to provide clear and accurate answers, and a positive attitude when helping others. Colan will now receive early product updates and be able to access private forums to discuss issues directly with Google employees.
Colan is a graduate of Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C. and has a degree in Business/Tourism Management plus a self-described addiction to Local Search. In October of 2012, he was chosen as the first Top Contributor on (Catalyst eMarketing founder) Linda Buquet’s Local Search forum. He was chosen for his volume, quality, and helpfulness.
Says Linda via blog post on her forum (4-15-2014), “In February 2014 Colan earned his stripes and became a ‘Rising Star’ at the Google forum which is the first step toward becoming a TC. I have been hoping he’d get promoted to TC for a while now, because he works hard over there and with over 1,100 posts, he deserves it!”
Top Contributors like Colan spend hours voluntarily helping users with Google-related questions and provide the company with feedback on new ideas so they can improve their customer support. In the past, Top Contributors have advocated for features and improvements like custom colors in Google Calendar, more locations for offline Google Maps on Android devices, and protected ranges in Google Sheets.
