By earning accreditation, AHRC Nassau has demonstrated a commitment to continuously improving its ability to identify what is important to each person by seeking a deeper understanding of how each person defines a quality life, then using that understanding to help each individual live his or her own life based on what really matters to him or her.
Since 1949, AHRC Nassau has been regarded as a leader in the field of developmental disabilities, helping to enact new legislation, pioneering innovative methods to promote community inclusion, and continuously finding new ways to better serve people with special needs. CQL accreditation promotes excellence in person-centered services and supports which will lead to increased quality of life for those AHRC Nassau supports. The person-centered approach is a paradigm shift that will give people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities greater choice in selecting the services best suited to meet their needs.
For more than 40 years CQL has been a leader in working with human service organizations and systems to continuously define, measure, and improve the quality of life of all people. It offers consultation, accreditation, training and certification services to organizations and systems that share its vision of dignity, opportunity and community for all people.
