The Pentatonic Scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave. They can be found all over the world and are the main scale used in the Blues genre.

Jacques teaches this easy blues guitar lesson in the key of A and demonstrates the minor pentatonic scale he is using as follows; 5th fret of the 6th string with first finger to the 8th fret with 4th finger, 5th fret of the 5th string with first finger to the 7th fret with 3rd finger, 5th fret of the 4th string with first finger to the 7th fret with 3rd finger, 5th fret of the 3rd string with first finger to 7th fret with 3rd finger, 5th fret of the 2nd string with first finger to 8th fret with 4th finger and 5th fret of the first string with first finger to the 8th fret with 4th finger. Jacques demonstrates this scale both ascending and descending. “If you want to turn that into a major pentatonic scale all you have to do is move it down three half steps and play the exact same shape," says Darville, “and you have created a A Major Pentatonic Scale." Jacques says that you can take a lot of the riffs that you already know form the minor pentatonic scale and just move them to the major pentatonic scale to give them a new and different sound. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
