KGBTexas .Communications Launching Contest for Female Entrepreneurs
San Antonio (PRWEB) May 14, 2014 -- Beginning this week start-up woman-owned businesses have the opportunity to win a suite of communications and marketing support from KGBTexas .communications, one of the largest woman-owned full service communications firms in Texas. KGBTexas, in partnership with law firm Jackson Walker L.L.P., is sponsoring the first-ever Catalyst Award for start-up woman-owned businesses in commemoration of the communication agency’s 20th anniversary.
“I want to share the experience I gained – by dreaming big and working hard – with other women entrepreneurs who are striving toward their dreams,” KGBTexas founder and CEO Katie Harvey said. “Over the past 20 years, from a one-room office to locations in three Texas markets and more than 35 full-time employees, I have been focused on building my business, but I could not have done this alone. I have a fantastic team of experienced professionals who have helped grow this business beyond my wildest dreams. Now it’s our turn to pay it forward by helping a female entrepreneur who is just starting out, much like I did 20 years ago. With the right guidance, I hope this budding entrepreneur will one day end up celebrating a successful 20 years in business.”
KGBTexas is launching the Catalyst Award competition during National Small Business Week. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, entrepreneurship plays a vital role in the growth of the U.S. economy. However the number of jobs created by new businesses is at its lowest point since 1994.
“Small businesses are, cumulatively, the largest employers in the country,” Harvey said. “Small business owners contribute in a big way to the overall vitality of the economy.”
The contest is open to women business-owners in Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Entries must be submitted by June 13, 2014. KGBTexas and Jackson Walker will review submissions and then notify the winner soon afterward. The selected winner will receive one year of communications strategy services including a strategic planning session, strategic plan development and ongoing mentor meetings.
