San Francisco, California (PRWEB) May 14, 2014 -- The new Locish a Q&A mobile app designed to help users find places to eat, drink, and have fun through real-time recommendations provided by like-minded people, re-launches its operations in San Francisco, New York City and Athens (Greece) today.
Searching for the perfect venue, whatever the occasion, can very often be a time consuming and daunting task, even when trying to find a new restaurant or bar in your own city. Thanks to the latest version of Locish, discovering new places will be easier than ever. Users who are new in town or locals keen to find trendy restaurants, hip cafes, underground bars or exclusive clubs, finally have a social media platform which allows them to ask those ‘in the know’ for tailored recommendations. This kind of functionality cuts through noisy, ambiguous reviews and time-consuming Internet searches, replacing them with up-to-the-minute responses that are both efficient and relevant for each user.
Unlike other Q&A apps, Locish also aims to connect like-minded individuals – users who understand and share each other’s tastes and lifestyle – encouraging them to exchange experiences and information, ultimately creating a cluster of communities through conversation and interaction.
As Locish co-founder, Alexis Christodoulou, puts it, "The ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to online recommendation systems is well and truly broken because it fails to acknowledge the individual needs of each user. This is what Locish intends to change." His views are shared by Locish’s other co-founder. Grigoris Zontanos “Plowing through millions of online reviews can make looking for a needle in the haystack seem like a walk in the park. Even when you do come across an intriguing review, vague terms like 'fun place' or 'great drinks' provide little guidance and no platform for you to ask specific questions, let alone receive quick, tailored answers.”
How it works:
Getting started as a Locish user – or Loconaut as they’re playfully known – is very straightforward. Those interested just download Locish to their smartphone. Once this step is completed, users will be asked to fill out a quick questionnaire, which allows Locish to identify their preferences and match those with similar interests.
From there, users can submit a question, hit ‘send’, and wait for a real-time, quality recommendation. In addition to a prompt, personal response, they receive supporting information – such as venue location, contact details, and pictures. Users also get a notification when a like-minded user submits a question, giving them the chance to share their knowledge.
Locish is now available to download – from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android).
