Drug addiction is a very dangerous and destructive condition. It adversely affects the victim, as well as the person's relationship with family and friends. So, merely finding a drug rehabilitation center is not enough. It has to be a top-tier facility, where people suffering from drug abuse can receive the absolute best care. Also, the center has to personalize treatment, acknowledging each patient's day-to-day activities and severity of the person's condition. Bay Area Recovery Center (BARC) has exemplified great drug treatment services for the past two decades in the Houston area. Recently the facility rolled out three types of treatment options.

Inpatient treatment are recommended for people with the greatest severity of drug dependency and have a limited number of day-to-day activities. The individual is completely removed from the circumstances and environment that enable his or her addiction. Inpatients are enrolled in a 12-step support group orientation program, and they get 24/7 support from BARC's well trained staff. Also included in the inpatient program are counseling sessions on chemical dependency, prevention of relapses, and structured activities that encourage recovery. There is even job training if patients want to take up a new profession.

For people who have major obligations, such as work or school, BARC provides the outpatient option. Suffers from drug abuse can choose from two programs: the intensive program or the supportive program. The intensive program is a more condensed plan that consists of a 12-hour group-based dependency counseling and a one-hour individual counseling session. The supportive program consists of interactive group counseling sessions held three for three hours every week, as well as an individual counseling session held every month.

The Partial Hospitalization Program, or PHP, is for people with a considerable number of day-to-day activities, but have drug addictions significant enough for a significant level of hospitalization. Patient go in for treatment during the day and return home by the evening. PHP consists of intensive therapy that includes both group and individual settings.
