Woman-Owned Minority Business Recognized for Providing High-Skilled, High Paid Jobs for Florida Families
Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 16, 2014 -- Champion Controls, Inc. has been named runner-up for the South Florida Manufacturers Association (SFMA) 2014 Manufacturer of the Year Award. The winner and runner-up for each size category were announced at the association’s awards banquet held on March 20, 2014 at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum in Dania Beach. The award is a culmination of judging process lasting several months wherein a panel of judges reviewed each nominee’s business processes and manufacturing operations, eventually narrowing the field to a small group of finalists. The panel of judges then visited each of the finalist companies to evaluate their practices against six judging criteria.
“Being named runner-up by the SFMA in our category is really an honor for us because we are told that it’s rare for a company to have made it this far, the first time it is nominated. It’s a testament to the dedication of our employees,” said Chantal Wedderburn, President/CEO of Champion Controls. “Having gone through the SFMA review process, we now have a better understanding of where the opportunities for improvement lay in our organization and as a result, will come out of the evaluation process an even stronger company, better able to serve our customer’s needs.”
The award captured the attention of Governor Rick Scott whom congratulated the company for providing “high-skilled, high-paid jobs for Florida Families.”
The South Florida Manufacturers Association is a non-profit trade association supporting manufacturers since the 1960’s. For more information on the SFMA, please visit http://www.sfma.org.
