Really Raw Honey Empowers Next Generation of Eco-Entrepreneurs at DC Green Festival, May 31-June 1, 2014
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) May 15, 2014 -- For its third year, Really Raw Honey (RRH), a multi-generational family-owned business, will put its 2014 exhibition into the hands of its young children (ages 4-16) to run at the Green Festival in Washington DC at The Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Some of the youngsters include Maliyah (age 4), Malaika (9), Sole’ (11), Nya (13), Kahlil (15) and Amara (16). The children will handle all aspects of the eco-friendly exhibit, from set-up to preparing and serving honey for tasting, to talking about their product to thousands of festival attendees. “Our children and grandchildren grew up in our business and are passionate emissaries for honeybees and the amazing health benefits of raw honey,” explained RRH founder and grandmother, Mimi Bennett.
Raw, unprocessed honey has antibiotic, antiseptic, antifungal and antiviral properties, is high in antioxidants, acts as an anti-inflammatory and never spoils. Raw honey has been used medically for millennia and studies now document its benefits to brain health and its use as an effective treatment for burn and wound healing, to build immunities for allergies, for treatment of diabetes and digestive disorders, as well as a host of other positive health effects reported by consumers.
The Really Raw Honey Company is a Baltimore-based 28-year business that has grown in the prolific niche of natural, sustainable products. Really Raw Honey was the first to supply unprocessed raw honey that is never barreled, heated or strained, to the health food market. RRH is among the fast growing niche of sustainable green businesses and was one of the original exhibitors at the first Green Festival in San Francisco.
“The enthusiasm of the children telling adults about bees and honey and how they contribute to a healthier earth and sustainable food supply is contagious,” says Frantz Walker, RRH’s second-generation owner. “Many green businesses are not only eco-friendly, but also family-friendly, so our children learn and gain valuable life experience by growing up and being involved in a holistic business endeavor with us.”
The 2014 Green Festival (http://www.greenfestivals.org) will attract more than 20,000, as it celebrates sustainable green enterprises for its 10th year with over 300 eco-friendly exhibitors, from May 31-June 1. Meet the The Really Raw Honey Company and its youngest generation at the Green Festival in exhibit booth #629.
About The Really Raw Honey Company
The Really Raw Honey Company was first-to-market with its totally unprocessed raw honey. RRH still contains all the goodness the bees put in—pollen, propolis, enzymes, tiny bits of honeycomb and trace amounts of royal jelly—which are preserved by RRH ‘s unheated hand-pack method. Devoted advocates for honeybees, RRH beekeepers do not transport bees to pollinate crops, a practice which subjects honeybees to many stressors that contribute to honeybee declines. RRH was founded in 1986, after years of sharing the unusually delicious, thick honey with friends who tasted the honey and wanted more. Really Raw Honey grew to become a beloved brand through its distribution to health food, gourmet and specialty stores. Today, it is distributed to the health food industry, nationally and internationally. In 2005, its founders Victor and Mimi Bennett retired and turned the business over to son Frantz Walker, with the enthusiastic support of both its elder and younger family members.
