Exscape Designs' Award Winning Project

The key to successful renovation work is about ensuring it looks like the new space belongs on the existing property

Chesterland, Ohio (PRWEB) May 16, 2014

Exscape Designs has recently added two more awards to their list of achievements. Each year the Ohio Landscape Association (OLA) recognizes superior projects with their Landscape Enhancement Awards Program. Exscape secured Merit awards in the “Garden Structures & Pavements” category on two separate projects. Both were renovation jobs that included some major upgrades to existing outdoor living spaces. This involved extensive hardscape work and the addition of some brand new features.

“The key to successful renovation work is about ensuring it looks like the new space belongs on the existing property,” says John Peterson, Exscape’s design and sales manager. “It’s important to pay attention to the surrounding architecture and even the home’s landscape to create an outdoor living space that blends well with everything.”

That was especially important on the award-winning project completed at a Hunting Valley estate. The homeowners wanted to enlarge and update their existing flagstone patio while ensuring that the new space reflected the elegant style of the home. The new outdoor living space now includes a built-in grill station, seating wall, and a large entertainment area which blends seamlessly with the classic estate property and offers a gorgeous view of the property.

The other award was for the renovation of a backyard space that was transformed to match the grandeur style of the rest of the home. An existing wood deck was removed and a multi-level patio complete with outdoor kitchen, in-ground spa with water feature, fire pit, large patio areas, heated walkways, and wood screen walls for privacy was installed. The end result is quite spectacular and demonstrates the power of a renovation project to transform a property. “A lot of homeowners think in terms of new projects but a lot of our work is renovations of an existing space,” Peterson says. “If something isn’t working in your backyard or could use an upgrade, a renovation can completely change the look and give you the features you really want.”
