Nobles Worldwide Supports ATK On the Modified CASA-235 Light Gunship Delivered to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Displayed at SOFEX 2014
St. Croix Falls, WI (PRWEB) May 17, 2014 -- Nobles Worldwide, Inc., the global leader in ammunition feed system design, development and manufacturing, and the largest supplier of flexible ammunition chutes to the US military and its allies, announced its support of ATK on the first modified CASA-235 light gunship aircraft that was delivered to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in March 2014.
ATK developed and provided the system integration and aircraft modification to transform a CASA-235 cargo plane into a multi-mission gunship. The modifications include a targeting system, a laser designator, self-protection equipment, and a synthetic aperture radar. The armament capability encompasses Hellfire laser-guided missiles, 2.75-inch rockets, and features ATK’s Palletized Autonomous Weapons System (PAWS), a side-mounted M230 link-fed 30mm chain gun with a Nobles Worldwide ammunition handling system. The Nobles’ complementary system is comprised of a 30mm feed chute and supporting ammunition storage container. The Nobles’ team provided additional engineering support that included designing, testing, and analyzing the ammunition handling system to ensure compatibility with the overall ATK designed solution.
This program specific partnership between ATK and Nobles developed in the fall of 2013 when ATK, in conjunction with King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), began testing the integrated gunship. “We are very pleased to be supporting ATK with such an innovative and effective system for a very important ally to the United States, “commented Nobles Worldwide CEO, John G. ATK delivered the aircraft to its customer and was featured with the Nobles handling system during the 10th edition of the Special Operations Conference and Exhibition (SOFEX), May 6-8, 2014, in Amman, Jordan. Additionally, Nobles Worldwide ammunition handling system supports the PAWS integrated onto the MC-27J Spartan aircraft, also displayed at SOFEX.
