Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “How to Add Chromatisms to your Blues Licks - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) May 16, 2014 -- The Chromatic Scale is a scale that uses 12 pitches each of which are one semitone above or below one another. Each semitone is the same size, 100 cents, and is equally spaced from one another.
“Chromatisms or chromatics is when you play a note and go up by a half a step,” says Darville, “you can go back a half a step and it’s still chromatic, as apposed to a whole step.” Jacques explains that when you play a blues scale you are actually adding chromatic notes to the minor pentatonic scale. Jacques demonstrates the blues scale as follows: in the key of A, starting at the 5th fret of the 6th string with first finger to the 8th fret with 4th finger, 5th fret of the 5th string with first finger, to the 6th fret with 2nd finger to the 7th fret with 3rd finger, the notes played on the 5th string are the chromatic movements. Jacques continues the sequence by going the 5th fret of the 4th string with first finger to the 7th fret with 3rd finger, 5th fret of the 3rd string with first finger to the 7th fret with 3rd finger to the 8th fret with 4th finger, which is another chromatic movement, then to the 5th fret of the 2nd string with first finger to the 8th fret with 3rd finger and then the same for the first string. Jacques continues this easy blues guitar lesson by demonstrating various combinations of chromatic movements. Guitar tabs are available for this easy blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
