Strengthening intellectual capacity is no longer science fiction.

A new data-driven perspective article from the Center for Brain Health at The University of Texas at Dallas found that brain training focused on strategic attention, innovation, and integrated reasoning created lasting cognitive and neural changes that spilled over into real life.
Brain training participants ranged from teenagers to healthy older adults, and also included people with brain injuries and those at risk for Alzheimer’s. The training was delivered over one to two months in eight to twelve 45- to 60-minute sessions.
According to lead researcher Dr. Sandra Bond Chapman, benefits also improved untrained areas, such as memory for facts, planning, and problem solving. As Chapman points out, “It was not learning new information that engaged widespread brain networks and elevated cognitive performance, but rather actually deeper processing of information and using that information in new ways that augmented brain performance.”
The study comes as no surprise to Tanya Mitchell, Vice President of Research & Development for LearningRx (http://www.learningrx.com), a national brain training company with more than 80 centers across the U.S. “It’s only over the past few decades that scientists have really begun to understand neuroplasticity, that is, the brain’s ability to change, adapt, and improve at any age. When you think about the fact that we can use noninvasive programs to train our brains to work faster and smarter, it creates a new sense of hope for those with learning struggles, traumatic brain injuries, and age-related cognitive decline.”
“The capacity to enhance cognition and complex neural networks in health, after injury or disease diagnosis will have major implications to preventing, diagnosing, and treating cognitive decline and enhancing cognitive performance in youth ... and in middle age to older adults who want to remain mentally robust,” says Chapman. “Strengthening intellectual capacity is no longer science fiction.”
LearningRx specializes in treating the cause ––not the symptoms––of learning struggles. The programs’ gamelike exercises and one-on-one trainer-to-student ratios provide guaranteed dramatic improvement in as little as 12 to 32 weeks. With more than 80 centers across the country, LearningRx brain training can help anyone––from 5 to 85––increase the speed, power or function of their brain. http://www.learningrx.com
